CEBU CITY, Philippines – Clearing operations continue in parts of Metro Cebu two days after Typhoon Odette hit.
Cebuanos either walk to their destinations or take habal-habal (motorcycle for hire) ride because of the scarcity of public transportation.
Habal-habal fee starts at P50.
“Naapektohan pud ko sa bagyo. Gipanglupad among bongbong pero mamasahero sa ko kay aron naay ikapalit og plywood,” a habal-habl driver from Lapu-Lapu City told CDN Digital.
(I was also affected by the typhoon. Our walls were flown by the wind but I have to wok so I will have money to by plywood [to fix our damaged walls.]
Most of the establishments in the cities of Mandaue and Cebu remain closed on Saturday, December 18.
Long lines can also be seen near gasoline stations as motorists try to refuel.
Lines can also be seen outside banks as people wait for their turn to withdraw from ATM machines.
