MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Ninety percent of Mandaue City’s roads are now passable.
Because of the onslaught of super typhoon Odette last December 16, trash, fallen trees, posts, and other debris are scattered everywhere including the roads making it difficult for cars to pass through if they can.
Buddy Alain Ybañez, head of the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, said that based on the report of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, 90 percent of all the city’s roads including those located in the interior barangays are now passable.
Ybañez said there are now only a few debris and fallen trees in the city that need to be cleared.
Moreover, Ybañez said they have been collecting garbage around the city non-stop.
He is also encouraging residents to wait for the garbage trucks to arrive and not throw their garbage on the streets.
The CDRRMO, Department of General Services, Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM), Mandaue City Police Office, City Engineering Office, and barangays have been working together to clear the city’s roads, Ybañez said.
Meanwhile, Ybañez said that based on the report of the Visayan Electric, 31 percent of the city’s households have already been energized.
Some of these areas include parts of barangays Tipolo, Centro, Subangdaku, Guizo, among others. /rcg
