CEBU CITY, Philippines—Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama will temporarily suspend the “no vaccination, no entry to work” policy that should be implemented by January 1, 2022.
The mayor said that these protocols to enhance the vaccination program cannot be applied during a crisis such as this time when the city is trying to recover from the aftermath of Typhoon Odette.
“First, i-hold in abeyance usa na. But definitely, the convergence will talk about it,” said the mayor.
This means that City Hall employees who are not yet vaccinated can still report to work without the need for regular real time polymerase test.
For the meantime, the city will focus on hastening the recovery of the city after Typhoon Odette so that people can return to their normal lives.
It is not clear if the policy that only vaccinated individuals can be served in establishments will also be implemented, but many establishments have temporarily closed down due to the lack of water supply or electricity as well.
The mayor said once everything settles down from current crisis, these policies will be revisited and strict implementation will follow.
Until then, the mayor reminded the public to remain vigilant against the COVID-19 especially if they are unvaccinated.
