‘Ex-soldiers’ held for carrying unlicensed guns

Two men serving as bodyguards of officials of Carmen Copper Corp. in Toledo City were arrested yesterday in a restaurant in Cebu City.

Frumencio Entera, 38, and Erwin Sequisabal, 34, had .45 cal. pistols but no permits to carry firearms outside of residence. Senior Supt. Noli Romana, Cebu City Police Office director, said.

They identified themselves as former military servicemen and members of the Joint Intelligence Task Force (JINTF). They showed acknowledgment receipts for the firearms issued by Lt. Col. Ricardo Bayhon of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Region 9.

They also showed a document which shows that they are members of the JINTF.

“One (Entera) was a member of the Special Forces and the other was a member of Ranger,” said Romana.

Romana said they are still waiting for confirmation from Bayhon that the two are indeed their intelligence men.
