A woman who was caught in an entrapment last year for illegal recruitment handed out refunds yesterday to her victims.
Kirby Silva, who was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly victimizing some 2,500 people, yesterday distributed cash to around 20 complainants yesterday inside the investigation room of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Inspector Delfin Bontuyan, CIDG-7’s chief investigator, presided over the concilation meeting between Silva and her victims. Silva tasked her secretary, Jennylyn Paz, to hand over the cash.
No legal personality
One of the 20 people was a worker of a news organization.
The victim, who requested anonymity, is happy he got his money back. He said he suspected that Silva’s Intertech 888 has no legal personality after an Internet search of registered companies.
Despite that, he still decided to risk his money just so he can go to Australia.
One of Silva’s “coordinators” who was named respondent in the illegal recruitment case last year, Robelyn Rigodon Abellaneda, went to Cebu Daily News to clear her name.
Abellaneda said she was not aware of Silva’s illegal activities.
