Female cop faces probe for calamity aid donations

A policewoman who is under investigation for allegedly pocketing cash donations for calamity victims didn’t report for work yesterday.

Her name is being withheld pending the filing of charges. She was assigned as finance officer of the Regional Police Community Relations Division (RPCRD).

A fact-finding team was formed to look into the complaint which the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame received last week through its text hotline.

Supt. Henry Biñas, deputy chief of Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) said the policewoman denied the allegations, but did not place her denial yet in a sworn statement.

He said police have yet to determine the total amount involved.

Policemen in Central Visayas donated cash for calamity victims.

The amount was collected by the RPCRD. Last January, the Police Regional Office-7 also organized a “run for a cause” which was participated in by more than a thousand police and military personnel raising around P390,000.

The policewoman and her colleagues have been summoned to explain her side.

The city and provincial offices that were to be beneficiaries of the fund drive could not show receipts for the donations.

Biñas said that if they find probable cause that an offense was committed, the policewoman would be charged with grave misconduct or dishonesty.
