MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said 200 police officers will be deployed in Cebu City for the first Bar examinations to be held outside Manila.
On February 4 and 6, the Cebu City Police will deploy the police officers to three university campuses which will host the exams: the University of Cebu in Banilad, the University of San Carlos-Main, and the University of San Jose Recoletos-Basak Pardo.
The PNP assures the public that the deployed personnel will be on duty early morning of the said dates “to ensure that motorists around the vicinity of the campuses will be informed of temporary road closures.”
The administrators of the said schools requested that the rooms which will be used for the Bar exams must not be exposed to unnecessary outside noise, the provincial police office said.
PNP chief General Dionardo Carlos, meanwhile, cautioned Bar examination takers not to hold send-offs since these could result in crowding.
“We also discourage send-offs of the exam takers to avoid any gathering or convergence of people. We have to focus on how we can conduct the Bar exams in a safe and peaceful way,” Carlos said in a statement.
He also reminded examinees to sternly follow health protocols before, during, and after taking every examination so as not to be infected by COVID-19.
Because several test takers were sick, caring for the sick, or under quarantine after contracting COVID-19, the Supreme Court suspended the 2020-2021 Bar examination which were originally scheduled on January 23 and 25 and rescheduled it to February 4 and 6. — Jericho Zafra, intern
