It was a tough international e-sports competition among players of six countries yesterday, but Cebu’s team Arcanys managed to place third in the DotA 2 tournament, following teams from South Korea (first place) and Manila (second place).
Manila’s “MSI evoGT” team almost edged out South Korea’s “MVP.Phoenix,” who grabbed the US$ 5,000-prize for the champion.
Manila settled for the US$3,000-prize for the second spot, and Cebu’s team went home with US$2,000.
The international e-sports was the first tournament in the Philippines.
It was considered the championship games for the Asian competition.
The events, which also gathered participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia and Thailand, were held for three days at the SM Trade Hall.
The team who won first and second places are now qualified to compete in the world e-sports tournament in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan on November 12 to 17 to vie for a combined prize pool of US$110,000.
