It was a proud day for Cathay Pacific Philippines, when the Cebu Airport Team was honored as one of the winners of Cathay Pacific’s Highest Award for Customer Service.

Dubbed as “The Betsy”, which is also the nickname of the airline’s historical first aircraft, the award aims to express the company’s appreciation to staff, for acts of extraordinary service, and at the same time, to promote a concept of service excellence.

The Cebu Airport Team was recognized for the help and care they showed to a passenger and her family who were diverted enroute to Sydney, because of a medical emergency that forced them to remain in Cebu for 3 weeks. They were among the 29 staff who got the award this year, for various acts of extraordinary service.

The ceremony, which was held in Hong Kong and was graced by the airline’s Directors and General Managers, was also the 10th Anniversary of “The Betsy” Awards.” Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: “This year, Cathay Pacific is honoured to win ‘World’s Best Airline’ in the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards for the fourth time – the only airline in the world to achieve such a feat. Our frontline staff’s efforts to provide service straight from the heart are an important contribution to this achievement. Today’s award-winning staff are shining examples of our service philosophy.”
