The Capitol will donate the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) building to the Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu Province.
“DepEd Cebu Province proposed to us… and we already agreed,” said Governor Hilario Davide III.
DepEd Cebu Province intends to improve the IPHO building and has been waiting to start the renovations since June, he added.
Dr. Arden Monisit, DepEd division superintendent, said that they are waiting for the actual donation to be formalized so they can start work on the building.
However, work on the old IPHO building will depend on the budgeted amount that the national government will give the DepEd regional office, he added.
A resolution on the donation was already filed by Provincial Board Member Peter Calderon.
The old IPHO building in Sudlon, barangay Lahug, Cebu City has been occupied by the DepEd Cebu Province for almost eight years now through a usufruct agreement.
In a related development, DepEd Cebu Province and the Capitol got insurance for 86 public school buildings in northern Cebu with the Government Service Insurance System.
“This will help in getting funds to repair or rehabilitate classrooms destroyed by calamities,” said Monisit. /USJ-R Masscom Intern Chens Judale Plenos
