WEARING yellow polo shirts, 44 officials from Carcar City were sworn in by Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III yesterday as the newest members of the Liberal Party (LP) in the province.
Four of them are city councilors who are members of the Alayon Party, four are barangay captains while the rest are barangay councilors.
Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, 1st District Board Member Raul Alcoseba and LP’s district chairman, San Fernando Mayor Antonio Canoy, attended the short ceremony at the governor’s conference room.
In a press conference after the oath-taking, Davide expressed his appreciation for the officials’ support for LP.
“We would like to believe that. A lot of officials have pledged their support to us and we are happy. This is a good sign,” Davide said.
Last July, members of the Gullas-led Alayon Party in Cebu’s first district also expressed their support for Davide’s possible re-election bid in 2016.
Among the members who signed the manifesto were City of Naga Mayor Valdemar Chiong, Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura, Minglanilla Mayor Elanito “Lani” Pena and Sibonga Mayor Lionel Bacaltos.
“As I’ve always mentioned, I’m very appreciative of the support shown by Alayon to us. After all, our programs at the Capitol are for everyone, not just for one party,” said the governor.
