Trees and flowers and seven LED screens will be set up on stage for the performers in all of the Sinulog dance presentations scheduled on Jan. 11 and Jan. 19.
Sinulog Foundation Inc. executive director Ricky Ballesteros said they will start work today.
“We want to bring a touch of nature in the stage. Since there are only a few LED screens here, we have to source from outside,” he said.
Ballesteros said Sinulog coordination meetings among the different working committees are currently mustered once a week to prepare for next year’s grand parade and other pre-Sinulog activities.
The Department of Education (DepEd) already committed to tap 10 contingents to participate in the Sinulog Sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan elementary and secondary division scheduled on Jan. 11, he said.
Seven contingents will be joining the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan elementary division together with other six contingents in the secondary division.
“But DepEd would not yet identify from where the contingents will come from,” Ballesteros said. Winners in the two competitions will be given slots in the Sinulog grand parade scheduled on January 19.
Ballesteros said the Cebu City government will continue to give the P150,000 subsidy for out-of-town contingents including those from outside of Cebu province for their travel subsidy.
“We are well aware that the amount is too small but we are not also in the position to increase this yet,” he said.
