Escudero to prioritize passage of Odette, pandemic bills if elected

Senatorial aspirant and Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Sorsogon Governor and Senatorial aspirant Francis Joseph “Chiz” Escudero visited Cebu on Wednesday morning, hoping to get support from Cebuano voters in the upcoming May 2022 elections.

Escudero became a senator in 2007 until 2019, completing his two terms before he ran and won as governor in the Province of Sorsogon.

The governor was also known for marrying actress Heart Evangelista.

For Escudero, he is more than qualified for the post, based on his experience as a lawmaker.

According to Escudero, if he would be elected again as a senator, he will give priority to the passage of the Typhoon Odette Rehabilitation Fund Bill to help provinces that were badly affected by the typhoon recover.

The typhoon has devastated several provinces in the country, including Cebu, in December 2021.

Aside from this, Escudero said that he will also give priority to the passage of a bill that would prepare the country for any pandemic.

He said that the said measure was first endorsed by late senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, but it was never approved by Congress.    /rcg
