All set for Ajinomoto® Umami Culinary Challenge Visayas

The annual Ajinomoto® Umami Culinary Challenge (UCC) Visayas will feature the culinary prowess of HRM and Nutrition students from 21 schools in Western and Central Visayas. UCC is an interschool competition organized by AJINOMOTO PHILIPPINES CORPORATION (APC) that aims to help students realize the delicious potential of umami, the 5th basic taste. The event will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at SM Cebu Trade Hall from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

This time around, UCC stages a nationwide roadshow, which started in Mindanao last July. Winning teams from UCC-Mindanao and UCC-Visayas will be flown to Manila to showcase their masterful culinary skills and compete with teams from Luzon during the National Cooking Showdown set in the year 2015.

UCC-Visayas will have three (3) competition categories: Best Filipino Umami Dish, My Own Umami Creation and Prep, Shake, Tak-tak-tak! The competing teams will be judged based on intensity of their dish’s umami taste, culinary technique and creativity, dish preparation and plate presentation. One of the major criteria is the Eat Well, Live Well.® Cooking, which refers to the integration of culinary skills and nutrition knowledge to create delicious and nourishing umami dish.
