A 38-YEAR-OLD female lawyer was selected by the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) as the head of its secretariat following the retirement of Provincial Secretary Anecita Pasaylo.
Pulchra Marie Acevedo was formally introduced before the PB in yesterday’s session.
Five persons applied for the position including acting PB secretary Eugidia Andrino, before a screening committee led by Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale.
“There were five applicants but only Acevedo is a lawyer and we were preferably looking for one especially with the number of administrative cases pending before us,” Magpale, the PB presiding officer, said.
She took her oath of office before Magpale last Sept. 15. Acevedo previously served as the chief of staff of former Cebu 3rd District Board Member Victoria Corominas.
Acevedo is the sister of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) Head Chad Estella.
Pasaylo was supposed to vacate her post in July last year after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65 years old.
However, Gov. Hilario Davide III extended her tenure until early this year since it took a while for the committee to find a “qualified” replacement.
