Woman gang-raped in front of boyfriend

Three men allegedly took turns raping a 21-year-old woman in front of her boyfriend in San Fernando town, southern Cebu.

The gang rape, which may have been drug-related, happened after the couple was robbed on the road, police said.

Police arrested two suspects identified as Kevin Cabrera, 23, and Arnel Ladica, 29.

Charges were filed against the suspects yesterday. police said.

The attack happened as the couple was walking home in a secluded area around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The woman said one of the culprits pointed a knife at them while the other was armed with a gun.
The victims the perpetrators took their cellphones and her P50 cash.

The woman said the suspects asked if they were a married couple and when they answered in the negative, they were told to to perform sex. The man refused.

Then two of the culprits suddenly grabbed the man while their other cohort raped her, according to Chief Insp. Sara Jean Recla, chief of San Fernando Police Station.

The perpetrators fled afterwards.

Police said the woman informed her parents of the robbery, but did not disclose that she was raped.

When the woman reported for work in the morning, she confided her ordeal to a co-worker, who accompanied her to the police station to report the crime.

The woman was able to identify Ladica, someone who would usually greet her on her way to work.

Recla said a background check revealed that Ladica was in the wanted list of persons involved in selling illegal drugs in the town.

Cabrera is a known toughie in the barangay, said Recla.

Ladica was first to be arrested in his house. The two suspects are neighbors. Police said the third cohort has yet to be identified.
