POLICE are looking into the possibility of an inside job in the burglary of a store in Mandaue City last Monday where P1.5 million in cash and jewelry kept in a vault were stolen.
U-Well Marketing manager Rodulfo Casinillo said that when he reported for work Monday morning, he found their office in disarray with the vault already open.
Initial investigation showed that the perpetrators entered through the roof of the building.
Two crowbars and a hammer were found in the crime scene.
They fled by rappeling from the third to the ground floor.
The store located in barangay Mantuyong was equipped with closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, but the surveillance system is usually switched off at 9 p.m.
SPO2 Marcos Noval Jr. of the Investigative Detection and Management Office said the case is under investigation.
The cash stolen was the store’s earnings for the whole week.
Police are wondering why the amount was not deposited in the bank.
In another incident, a businessman reported to the Canduman Police Station that his house was ransacked last Monday while the family was away.
When they arrived at around 5:20 p.m, they noticed that the door was already ajar.
Cash amounting to P77,000, electronic gadgets and jewelry were stolen.
An inventory revealed that Ang lost P2,000 cash, P30,000 worth of jewelry, wristwatch worth P8,200, one laptop worth P25,000.00 and a cellular phone worth P12,000.00.
