In-person classes begin in some Mandaue schools

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—After a two-year hiatus, schools here resumed face-to-face classes on Monday, March 28, 2022.
A total of 16 out of the 45 public schools in the Mandaue were able to implement in-person classes, among them was the Cesar M. Cabahug Elementary School in Barangay Looc.
The school though is only implementing in-person classes for grade 6 students.
The school said that on April 18, more grade-level students will be allowed to report to school.
Students John Cedrique Anabieza and Dhoann Camingue said they were happy that they were able to go back to school and meet their classmates and teachers.
“Happy mi nga nakakita nami sa amoang classmates after two years,” said Camingue.
Anabienza said it is more conducive to learn in school than in their house, especially that his parents are working.
“Nindot kaayo kay makasabot ra ko kay naa may mag guide namo. Akong mama and papa man gud kay naay trabaho. Unya ako may magbantay sa akoang manghud, maong mas ganahan ko og face-to-face kay makasabot ko’g samot,” he said.
Camingue, meanwhile, said she is concerned on the fact that the virus is still around, which is why she makes sure to follow the school’s protocols like always wearing a face mask and washing hands with alcohol.

The students were divided into batches. Batch A would report to school every Monday and Tuesday while Batch B every Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays are scheduled for the disinfection of schools.
In-person classes in Mandaue and the rest of the country were suspended in 2020 due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.
