Police on Thursday arrested three men for carrying guns in an open area at the Ayala access road in Cebu City.

They were identified: Ronnie Daug-daug Lapi, 35, a resident of barangay Mabolo; Romeo Villaruz Baldidos, 39; and Melvin Ranolo Ollamot, 24, both residents of barangay Carreta.

Senior Supt. Noli Romana, director of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said they believed the three are members of a gun-for-hire group, an accusation they  denied.
Police also suspect that they’re involved in armed robbery.

Baldidos insisted they had no guns with them when police picked them up.

He said they were on their way  to fix a client’s sound system when they were arrested

Romana said the arresting team seized a  grenade and a .357 cal. revolver from Lapi  while Baldidos and Ollamot each  had .38 cal. revolvers.

Police said Lapi is a suspect in the killing of Rowen Lobitania in July 20, 2014.   He was arrested in 2010 by the Waterfront Police Station for drug related charges.

The seized firearms were handed over to the PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistics examination to check if they have been used in crime incidents.
