Purisima visits Cebu amid corruption issues

Amid  allegations of corruption, the chief of the Philippine National Police, Director-General Alan Purisima flew into Cebu yesterday for a number of civic activities including the distribution of rice packs to victims of the recent fire that hit barangay Barrio Luz.

Purisima led members of the freemasonry in Cebu in distributing 10 kilos of rice to the 250 victims at the Barrio Luz Elementary School where they are temporarily sheltered.

Maria Luz Araña, one of the victims, said the donation is already a very big help for them
Purisima at noon joined his fellow masons for lunch at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel.

The PNP chief refused to grant interviews while he was in Cebu.

At the time the PNP chief was in Cebu, his cousins toured the media in his controversial property in Nueva Ecija.

Purisima is facing graft and plunder cases in connection with the alleged anomalous construction of a multi-million White House at Camp Crame as well as the misdeclaration of his Nueva Ecija property.

He said his brother masons raised the funds for the renovation of the White House which amounted to about P12 million.

Busy day

Chief Supt. Prudencio Bañas, chief of police of Central Visayas, said Purisima’s visit had long been planned.

Today, the PNP chief will be the guest of honor at the awards ceremony at the PRO-7 headquarters in Camp Sergio Osmeña.

At noon, Purisima will be at the Cebu Provincial Capitol for the signing of the deed of donation of the property in barangay Lahug, Cebu City where the headquarters of the Cebu Provincial Police Office is located.
