Cop loses rifle to burglars

An airport policeman claimed he lost P200,000 cash and his M-16 serivce rifle after his apartment in barangay barangay Pusok in Lapu-Lapu City was burgled.

PO3 Lee Marindoque of the Police Center for Aviation Security (PCAS 7) reported the incident to the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

PO3 Melchizedek Briones, investigator, said that Marindoque was on duty last Tuesday. At around 4:30 p.m., his neighbor Ruby Calimpusan called to inform him that the door of his apartment was ajar.

Marindoque immediately went home and found that the cash and rifle were missing.

Marindoque said he did not bring his rifle when he reported for duty as he was not in police uniform as he was assigned as close-in security to PNP Director General Alan Purisima.

Marindoque explained that he kept large amounts of money at home as he is into the lending business.

Part of the amount also came from a loan he took out which he will use to finance his annulment case.

PO3 Briones said the door knob of Marindoque’s apartment was forcibly destroyed and his belongings were in disarray.

They are further investigating the case.
