SWU girls bag first semis win

THE REIGNING girl’s  champion Southwestern University (SWU) kickstarted its semifinal campaign with a rousing straight-sets win over the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) in the Cesafi volleyball tournament last Wednesday at the Aznar Coliseum.

SWU creamed USP-F, 25-16, 25-10, to get the jump in the race for the two finals berths.

In the night’s other game, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) bucked a listless first set and bounced back strong in the next two to down the University of San Carlos (USC) in a three-set thriller, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Every victory is crucial at this point as the top two finishers of this round will gain entry into the best-of-three championship series.
