On its first anniversary, the Elora Supermarket will hold a running event on Nov. 16 for the benefit of the Marigondon Elementary School.
The run will start in front of the supermarket itself and will feature four distances : 12-kilometer, 6k, 3k and 1.5k.
Proceeds of the race will be used to fund Marigondon Elementary School’s projects for its more than 4,000 students.
“We would like to spend our first anniversary with a fun-filled race and at the same time help our community. It’s also our way of giving back to the community for helping our business flourish here in Marigondon,” said Elora Supermarket proprietor Dante Villanueva during yesterday’s race launching.
Villanueva was joined by race director Soybits Rebojo and co-organizers Danilo Alfornon and Rose Buenconsejo who are expecting to draw around a thousand runners.
Some P36,000 in cash will go to the winners while P24,000 worth of raffle prizes will also be raffled off.
Elora Supermarket is situated right across Marigondon Elementary School.
To ensure the safety of the runners, Rebojo said that they will tap the help of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office and deploy around 40 marshals as well as barangay tanods along the race route.
Meanwhile, Alfornon said that he will invite newly crowned 38th National Milo Marathon Cebu Qualifying Leg 21k champion Noel Tillor to conduct a running clinic for Marigondon ES students.
Registration is ongoing at Athletes Foot in Ayala Center Cebu, Planet Sports in Pueblo Verde, Elora Supermarket and Dan Enrico’s Hardware outlets in Lapu-Lapu City. Online registration is also available at store.aktib.ph.
Registration fee is pegged at P450 for the 12k, P350 for 6k, P250 for 3k and P50 for 1.5k. Elora Supermarket patrons can avail of a P50 registration discount if they present a single purchase receipt of at least P1,000.
