Boljoon police chief commended for operation against criminal gang

The police chief of Boljoon town who led the operation against a criminal group in a mountain barangay was given the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting at the hospital where he was recovering from a gunshot wound.

Insp. Dexter Basirgo sustained gunshot wounds in his stomach and shoulder during a shootout that killed two member of a criminal gang operating in the mountains of Alcoy and Dalaguete towns. The operation was a follow-up in last Saturday’s raid that killed three other members of the gang.

Senior Supt. Tom Banas, Police Regional Office (PRO-7) director and Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, Cebu provincial police chief, visited Basigro at the Chong Hua hospital to hand over the medal to him.
