1 hurt as truck rams house in Lapu-Lapu

A woman was injured after a dump truck carrying limestone swerved and overturned before slamming into her home along the road in sitio Trigon, barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City at 3 p.m. Monday.

Florencio Doroy’s right arm was pinned down by debris.

She told police that she was about to enter her yard when she saw the truck running out of control and headed towards her house.

A motorcycle owned by her brother-in-law, Francisco Doroy, was also damaged in the accident.

“Basta wala lang gyud naangol sa among pamilya (So long as no one in the family got hurt),” she said.
Doroy, 62 said the truck’s driver and passengers pulled her out from the rubble.

They however, flagged down a truck which was believed to be in a convoy with them and fled.

Police found suspected drug paraphernalia consisting of an empty plastic sachet, a disposable lighter, aluminum foil and a plastic case in the truck..

PO1 Ryan delos Reyes, traffic investigator of Lapu-Lapu City, told Cebu Daily News that the Isuzu dump truck bearing plate no. YHL 516 is owned by Yuson Construction and Supply in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

The police also found quarry permits from the dump truck bearing the names of Oyao-Amores Builders Inc.

Doroy’s husband Rolando told reporters that he will pursue damage claims against the company.
