CEBU Provincial Board (PB) Member PB Grecilda “Gigi” Sanchez admitted that there are delays in the implementation of projects as compared to the previous administrations.
But she explained that this is because they are careful in following the guidelines set by the Commission on Audit (COA).
“We are slowly adopting the method of COA and we are extra careful to avoid disallowances. This is not a cause for alarm since everybody knows that COA this time has been a lot stricter than before,” she said.
Sanchez is also proud that there is a unity among the PB members, which she said, is an envy of the rest of the country as concerns are immediately addressed.
Sanchez, chairman of the budget and appropriations committee, said during the 888 News Forum at Marco Polo Hotel that the they will ask the different department heads to explain how they spent their 2014 budget.
This will be part of the hearing they will conduct next month on the P3-billion budget that Gov. Hilario Davide III proposed.
“Our priority is that how the money was spent. We will also trace what are the fully implemented projects and the pending projects,” she added.
Pending projects in 2014 will be finished in 2015.
“We will trace the status and ask how it will be related to the 2015 budget. The money is there but will need to spend it wisely,” she explained.
