The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will allow buses to cover areas outside of their routes until Nov. 30.
In yesterday’s 888 News Forum, Regional LTFRB-7 Director Ahmed Cuizon said this was based on Memorandum Circular 2014-018 issued by the LTFRB central office last Oct. 14. “The LTFRB board needs to deliberate on the applications,” Cuizon said.
He said there are 150 pending applications for the modification of bus routes in Central Visayas and 70 percent of these are from Cebu province. Cuizon said it takes them weeks to process the applications.
He said the extension will allow more buses to ply the roads during the Nov. 1 and 2 holidays when a high turnout of passengers is expected.
Cuizon said operators with no pending applications need to apply for special permits so they won’t be considered as colorum. A special permit costs P130 and is good for three days.
