An 18-year-old fourth year high school student was found dead after she hung herself on a seven-foot cacao tree in the mountain barangay of Tubod, San Fernando town, southern Cebu last Tuesday evening.
Jonafe Embolde was found hanging with a blanket tied around her neck by her 60-year-old uncle Temetocles Embolde, who had just come home from tending to the cows.
Jonafe was sent to gather firewood by her parents Leodegario, 54 and Narcisa, 51, last Monday afternoon and she failed to return home.
Police recovered a four-page suicide note. PO3 Reynaldo Tañica, one of the respondents, told Cebu Daily News that the parents admitted reprimanding Jonafe after they learned she had a boyfriend.
