About P31,200 worth of shabu was confiscated from a 36-year-old woman at a checkpoint in Carlock St., corner Tupas, barangay Sawang Calero in Cebu City last Saturday afternoon.
Belen Sagarino, a resident of barangay Ermita Proper, Cebu City rode a motorcycle when she was flagged down for wearing slippers by a team of the San Nicolas police precinct.
When the police issued a citation ticket, they saw a white paper bag that Sagarino placed on the handle bar of her motorcycle. Closer inspection showed 240 small heat sealed plastic sachets that they suspect to contain shabu.
The sachets were placed in a large transparent pack and placed inside a white paper bag. Each sachet of shabu had a street value of P130.
Insp. Alejandro Lopez, team leader of the alert team, then brought Santino to the San Nicolas police precinct.
Charges of violating Sec. 11 of Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against her, he said.
The arrest came nearly a week after agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested two persons who were repacking shabu inside a shanty in sitio Aroma, barangay Pulambato in Cebu City.
Jovanni Papas and Jonas Bontuyan were brought to a hospital after a shootout with police while suspected drug pusher Randy Miñoza escaped.
