CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu would continue to experience light to moderate rains on Monday night, July 4, 2022, until Tuesday, July 5, 2022, according to the latest weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration stationed in Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan).

Jhomer Eclarino, weather specialist at Pagasa-Mactan, said the prevailing weather condition in Cebu would be cloudy to mostly cloudy, with the easterlies as the prevailing weather system in the Visayas.

“Ang pinakaprevailing nato is mostly cloudy to cloudy so naa tay mga rain showers and thunderstorms and light to moderate with occasional heavy rains, and possible ang mga flashfloods and landslides mostly sa atong mga vulnerable areas,” he told CDN Digital.

(Our most prevailing is mostly cloudy to cloudy skies, so we have rain showers and thunderstorms and light to moderate with occasional heavy rains and possible flashfloods and landslides, which are mostly to our vulnerable areas.)

As of this writing, Pagasa has already issued a thunderstorm advisory in several areas in Cebu, particularly in Talisay City and portions of Central Cebu.

Moderate to heavy rain showers have been experienced in Aloguinsan, Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal, Alegria, and Badian, and neighboring areas on Monday morning.

The same have been experienced in the neighboring island of Cebu, Negros Occidental and Leyte.

Pagasa then advised the public to take precautionary measures against the possible impacts associated by the weather including flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, Eclarino said around two to three tropical cyclones would be expected to enter the country this month, but based on their latest tropical predictions, most of the tropical cyclones that would visit the country around this time would pass in the Luzon area.

He said that Visayas would usually be visited by tropical cyclones during the last quarter of the year until the first few months of next year.
