It’s that time of year again when kids dress up like little fairies or monsters, walk around with pumpkin pails to either get a trick or a treat!

This Halloween practice of western origin started as a promotional event of some malls less than ten years ago.

This year, more malls and even resorts are celebrating Halloween with the fun Trick or Treat!

PARKMALL
Parkmall will hold its Trick or Treat on October 31 from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. open to kids 12 years and below.

“They only need to register at our concierge and its free. A name tag and treat card containing the list of participating tenants will be given on Oct 31 at the concierge as well,” said Parkmall communications officer Racquel S. Marfega.

They will also hold a Halloween Costume Party in partnership with Jollibee.

Interested participants can register at Jollibee Parkmall.

For the adventurous, they can try out the Horror Park which started since Octobet 17 and will run until November 9 for only P50 each at the mall’s  second level.

SM CITY CEBU
Halloween started as early as October 25 at SM City Cebu with a Halloween-themed Zumba event at the Upper Ground Floor at 10:30 a.m.

You can then have your photos taken at the Halloween Photospot which will also start on October 25 to 31 coupled with the week-long Halloween Fair at the lower ground floor of the main mall across Chester Enterprises.

“We will also have a Halloween Costume Contest open to kids ages 4 to 12 years old. The registration starts from October 15 to 31. They can enlist at the registration booth located at the lower ground floor,” said RJ Leduna, SM Supermalls senior public relations manager for VisMin.

Leduna also invites everyone to fill their pumpkin pails with sweet surprises when you join the trick or treat.

“The Trick or Treat will be on October 31 from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Registration Forms are available at the SM Marketing Department and at the registration booth located at the Lower Ground Floor across Chester Enterprises from October 15 to 28.”

AYALA CENTER
Expect glow-in-the-dark monsters and spooky characters roaming around the mall on October 29 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“This is open to kids ages 12 and below. We will be giving a total of 500 Halloween Passports for the participants,” said Ian Virray of the mall’s marketing department.

To qualify, shoppers should present any of the requirements including P1,000  worth of food or non-food single receipt dated October 17 to 26, 2014 from any Ayala Center Cebu outlet (excluding bill payments and department store kiosks), P2,000 worth of single receipt dated October 17 to 26, 2014 from Rustan’s Fresh Supermarket or Metro Ayala Supermarket.

The first fifty (50) VIPinoy-card Members to present their membership cards/IDs at the Privileges Desk will also get a Halloween Passport as well as the first fifty (50) AMORE-card Members to present their cards and IDs.

Shoppers may redeem the Halloween Passport at the Privileges Desk located at the 1st floor, Rotunda Area between Naturalizer and Watchworks.

The Halloween Passport will contain passes for Arts and Crafts, photo booth, House of Glow, sweets buffet and Trick or Treat.

Shoppers can only redeem one (1) passport per day.

Promo period is from October 17 to 26, 2014 or until the last passport has been redeemed.

The child participant must be accompanied by one (1) adult parent or guardian.

PLANTATION BAY RESORT AND SPA
For those who wants to get more treats, they can also join the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa’s Trick or Treat.

According to PR officer Hannah P. Lood, participants can join at P1,000 per child.

“All in house children will be free of charge.  Our theme for this year will be the walking dead. There will be games in the morning starting at 9 a.m. and face painting in the afternoon.”

Registration for Trick or Treat starts at 1 p.m. 3 p.m. around the resort will start at 3 p.m.

The Zombie parade will start at 3:45 p.m. Snacks for the children will be served after the parade.

SHANGRI-LA’S MACTAN RESORT AND SPA
You can also join in Shangri-la’s Trick or Treat for P500 or P1,700 for walk-in guests and P1,500 for in-house guests if you join in the Spooky Halloween Party.

Trick or Treat Parade will start at 6 p.m. at the resort’s grounds.

The Spooky Halloween Party will start after the parade at the Mactan Ballroom.

It will include a Kids Fashion Show Contest, Halloween dinner buffet, a magic show, Stilt Walkers and raffle draw.

Guardians availing of the kids dinner buffet can pay P1,000 net for in-house adults or P1,200 for walk-in adults.

JPARK RESORT CEBU
Newly relaunched resort JPark Resort Cebu will also be giving fun to the children in a form of a Halloween Night Party on October 31.

For only P700 per child, they can already enjoy a whole night of spooky fun at the resort’s Abalone Garden open to in-house and walk-in guests.

Registration starts at 2 p.m. and program will officially start at 3 p.m with an opening dance number.

The kids will then have a Costume Parade and enjoy the Magic Show and dance presentation.

“Snacks will be served by 4 p.m. before the Trick or Treat proper starts at 5 p.m. We will also be awarding Best in Costume, Scariest Face, and most creative costume to the kids who came at their best,” said JPark Resort Cebu marketing communications director Angela Emphasis.
