Cebu City Hall officials will stand by their position and are ready explain in court their the move to have the concrete wall in Cebu IT Park demolished.
City Legal Officer Jerone Castillo welcomes the court’s issuance of a 72-hour temporary restraining order (TRO) against the city on the demolition of the wall.
“We respect the court on the TRO issuance. It’s very good now the courts can really see and interpret the law. As to our side, we will stand by our previous position,” Castillo said.
Last month, the legal office stated that the wall should be demolished as it is illegal and a nuisance for preventing unhampered access to W. Geonzon Street which is a public road beside the wall.
For his part, Mayor Michael Rama also said he will respect the TRO.
“We believe it is legal and we will take it legally. We won’t defy the TRO. We will respect it,” Rama said.
He plans to meet with City Hall lawyers this morning to discuss the case.
