LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Close to 38,000 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Central Visayas are set to exit the program in August this year.
This was confirmed by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-7 OIC regional director Shalaine Marie Lucero.
According to Lucero among the reasons why they will exit the program were that they no longer monitored children aged 0-18 and those who have already stayed in the program for seven years.
“Karon sa Augsut, naa tay ipa-exit nga about 38,000 to be exact kay 37,890. So that’s about 38,000 families nga sa among nakita, wala nay 0-18, nakaabot na sila ug seven years nga exposure sa program,” Lucero said.
Aside from this, other beneficiaries will also exit the program after they misbehaved and violated the conditionalities of the program and those who already waived their membership after they’ve reached self-sufficient status.
“Ang uban ani ni-sign na ug waiver kay maayo na ang kahimtang, ang uban ani naay mga validated nga nag-misbehave, pero gi-process pod na unya nakita gyud nga naa gyuy misbehavior,” she added.
Lucero is also urging local government units (LGUs) to support 4PS beneficiaries who will exit the program.
For those who exited after they’ve reached the self-sufficient status, Lucero said that LGUs must ensure that they will no longer slide down to being a poor family.
“Amo gihapon nang giseguro that the local government unit provides services when it is needed. Kay diba ang pagseguro nato nga naabot ka sa level 3, what if naay shock nga mahitabo? Unsa may shock? pwede naay masakit, pwede naay namatay, pwede disaster,” she said.
When these instances happen, Lucero said that LGUs should provide support to these families, so that they could maintain their level 3 or self-sufficient status.
For families who exited the program due to other reasons, she said that the government and the LGUs will still provide support to them, especially in times of crisis. /rcg
