3 men shot in 8 hours in Cebu, Lapu-Lapu

Three men were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in a span of eight hours in Lapu-Lapu and Cebu cities last Saturday.

At 7:45 a.m., Rowell Capin, 25, was shot twice by his neighbor, Diony Blanco, 37, of sitio Balanghoy, barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

A witness told police that he was eating breakfast when he looked out his window on hearing a shot fired. He then saw Blanco, a painter, fire a second shot at Capin and then fled.

Capin was brought to the hospital where he was treated for gunshot wounds in the neck and body.

PO3 Lydo Pinos, Lapu-Lapu City police precinct homicide investigator, said they found two spent shells and a bullet of a .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Police tried to pursue Blanco but they failed to arrest him.

Police said a personal misunderstanding is the  motive behind the shooting.

About eight hours later at 3:30 p.m. in barangay Tejero, Cebu City, a man shot and wounded two motorcycle-riding men that passed by the area.

Clemente Gavino Jr., 29, of barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City and Junister Jamio, 18, of sitio Panagdait, barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, were shot by a certain Julius when they passed by D. Gaisano St.
SPO4 Rey Cuyos, Cebu City Police Office homicide investigator, said Julius is a known drug personality in the area.

Julius was standing at the side of the road when he shot Gavino and Jamio. Gavino, who was hit in the neck, lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Jamio was hit in the chin and sought help at a nearby barangay hall.

Both victims survived the shooting, but police failed to catch Julius, who fled after the attack.
