A resident of Talisay City filed a graft complaint against Mayor Johnny de los Reyes for approving the purchase of a 4×4 pick up, rescue equipment and medicines which the Commission on Audit (COA) found to be questionable.
In his complaint, Lorete Bonete said the Talisay City government purchased from D. Limitless Vehicle Ventures Corp. last year a rescue motor vehicle, rubber boat and other rescue equipment worth P3.5 million.
However, the purchase was found to be 32.20 percent above the COA estimate, thus considered an “excessive expenditure.”
Also, Bonete said the city government purchased several medicines worth P170,116.64.
But the procured drugs are not listed in the Philippines’ National Drug Formulary Volume 1 and did not have the approval from the National Drug Office.
Aside from the mayor, also impleaded in the complaint was his son John Yre de los Reyes, who is the administrator of Talisay City and chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee.
