Super Metro Carcar opens today

SUPER Metro, the hypermarket format of the Metro Retail Stores Group, opens in Carcar City today, along the national highway in Barangay Valladolid.

Super Metro Carcar will primarily serve the host city that will celebrate its fiesta on Nov. 24 and the adjacent town of San Fernando. It is expected to further serve the residents of Sibonga down south and Barili westward and nearby municipalities.

It will complement the operations 21 kilometers away up north of Metro Naga.

The Carcar store is the 12th hypermart that the Metro system under Metro Retail Stores Group now operates since July last year following the recent opening of a Super Metro in Antipolo City in Luzon.

The Metro reclassified its stores in the cities of Toledo and Naga in Cebu, Lucena City in Quezon province, and Maasin in Southern Leyte as hypermarkets and will soon carry the red colors of the Super Metro brand.

The Carcar outlet is also the 25th major Metro retail store in 32 years, also the 42nd to include Metro Fresh ‘n’ Easy stores (formerly, Tita Gwapa) acquired by the company that aims to open 100 stores by 2017, according to Arthur Emmanuel, president and chief operating officer.

The Metro Group introduced the Super Metro chain of hypermarkets to allow shoppers a faster pace in buying the basic merchandise they need with all the convenience and necessary ambiance for ease and comfort.

A hypermarket like Super Metro is a retail concept that has a mix of 60 percent in grocery products and 40 percent in general merchandise. Most of the items are what customers would very likely need to grab right away.

Compact

With three decades of experience in retail operations, Super Metro has shifted customers’ orientation from traditional shopping to alternative and more comfortable modes in a compact setting.

Thus, Super Metro Carcar is expected to change the shopping behavior in the area as shoppers may now opt to conveniently pick and buy the goods they need with less hassle.
