The Teleperformance (formerly Aegis) Vipers are champions once again.
The Vipers showed an unflappable championship poise and bagged their second straight crown via a 52-49 win over the Convergys-2 Blue Devils yesterday in the winner-take-all Game 3 of the 10th City Sports Club-Cebu (CSC-C) E-League for Basketball at the CSC-C Gym.
The Vipers of coach Lou Regidor flashed the form that netted them last year’s crown, completing a tremendous fightback from a 0-1 series deficit to once more rule the annual tournament organized by Rey Fuentes.
The Blue Devils won Game 1, 62-60, and paid dearly for failing to close out the Vipers in Game 2 where they lost badly, 45-65.
After scoring 14 points in Game 2, Dean Junber Escalon took care of the scoring chores anew for the Vipers, firing a game-high 15 points in Game 3 while adding five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block to win the Finals MVP award.
Regidor also took home the Coach of the Year accolade.
Ryan Veloso backed Escalon with 11 markers.
Sherwin Resilla paced the Blue Devils with 13 points, while Clifford Amarado and Lourenz Limpangog added 12 and 10, respectively.
It was a disappointing finish for the Blue Devils, who had a sterling elimination campaign that saw them sweeping all of their 10 games.
