Philippine National Police Director-General Allan Purisima attended the groundbreaking rites for a three-storey Subangdaku police precinct building near the J. Centre Mall in barangay Bakilid at 10 a.m. yesterday.
“We are not only foreseeing a new physical structure but we see another physical embodiment that shows our affirmation of our chief (contribution to) progress which (is to ensure) peace and order,” Purisima said in his speech.
The construction expenses of the 55 sq. meter building worth P5 million will be shouldered by Everjust Realty and Development Corp. owned by exporter Justin Uy, who also owns the majority share of J. Centre Mall.
The Subangdaku police precinct is housed in the Subangdaku Barangay Hall.
Stakeholders
A Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Purisima, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes and James Uy, vice president of Everjust Realty and Development Corp. before the groundbreaking.
Cortes said peace and order is necessary in achieving Mandaue City’s vision to be the primary source of high-quality consumer products in 2020.
“The protection of life and properties is the primordial role of the police, but this cannot be achieved without the cooperation of other stakeholders,” he said.
Construction of the Subangdaku precinct building is expected to be finished by March or April next year. The completion also coincides with the opening of the Toyoko Hotel owned by Everjust Realty and Development Corp.
