Parkmall, Cebu’s first pet-friendly mall, will hold a series of exciting and unique pet activities this month highlighted by a groundbreaking move to provide free and low-cost microchip tags for pets for identification as it celebrates its 14th anniversary.
The mall will hold October Pets 2022 activities from Oct. 19-23 that will also coincide with Animal Wellness Month. Parkmall is committed to continue promoting responsible pet ownership, pet wellness examination and disease prevention, among others.

In an unprecedented move here, the low-cost microchip-tagging of pets on Oct. 22-23 will be the highlight of October Pets 2022. A prerequisite of the micro-chip implant is that pets must be updated with their anti-rabies vaccine.

IMPORTANCE OF MICROCHIP TAGS
Pets are implanted with a microchip using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology that contains information like the pet owner’s information, updated vaccine information so they have a permanent ID. By scanning their tag, they can be identified and returned when lost. Microchip implants for pets will also be convenient for owners when they are brought along during travel.
Microchip-tagging usually costs P800 to P900, but during the Parkmall event, it is free for the first 30 pets registered on site on Oct 22-23. Beyond this number, the fee will be P350 per pet which includes microchipping, registration, and professional fee. This will be on a first come, first serve basis. The lineup of activities for October Pets promises to be a festive, fun, and learning atmosphere that will once again delight the community of pet owners, pet lovers, pet clubs, and other stakeholders as they gather at the Parkmall premises.
PET JAM AND LINEUP OF ACTIVITIES
Pet Jam, one of the most-anticipated events on Oct 21-23, is an outdoor pet community fair in partnership with the Cebu Furriends Pet Social Club from 4 pm to 8 pm. It will feature pop-up booths, food, live music performances with guest performer Fatima Soria. On Oct 22, have fun making DIY treats for your pets with Pepper’s Favorites and on Oct 23, experience bunny hunting with the Alliance of Rabbit Raisers.

Here is the complete lineup of activities of October Pets 2022:
- Oct. 19-23 – Pet Expo, 10 am – 9 pm (mall hours) – Witness exciting pet displays from pet clubs and pet shops ranging from pet animals to live animals.
- Oct. 21 – 23 – Pet Jam, 4pm to 8 pm, an outdoor pet community fair.
- Oct. 22 – Free and Low-cost Microchipping with Pets ID Ph, 10 am – 5 pm at the 2nd Floor, North 1 Entrance
- Oct. 22 – Pet Blessing, 10 am – 11 am – Bring your pets to Parkmall to be blessed. Free Admission.
- Oct. 22 – Hamster Race, 1 pm to 3 pm – Bring your hamster and join the hamster race with Cebu Enthusiastic Hamster Keepers.
- Oct. 23 – Free and Low-cost Microchipping with Pets ID Ph, 10 am – 8 pm. Activity will be at the 2nd Floor, North 1 Entrance from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m, the microchipping activity will be held outdoor at the Central Bark where the Pet Jam event is held.
- Oct. 22-23 – Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination, 10 am to 5 pm in partnership with Mandaue City Veterinarian’s Office.
- Oct. 23 – Serama Display, 12 nn – 1 pm. Witness the display of Seramas by Cebu Bantam Chicken Breeders Association.
- Oct. 23 – Pet Talk, 2 pm – 3 pm – Listen to talks with Pets ID Ph and Animal Wellness.
Following its successful Pet Festival 2022 event last May that highlighted a pet obedience training workshop, Parkmall pledges to make the October Pets 2022 festival another enjoyable and trailblazing event for the community of pet lovers and owners as well as stakeholders. .
The pandemic, surprisingly, saw an increase in pet ownership by pet lovers most of whom belong to a younger demographic. October Pets 2022 once again aims to draw them into the pet-loving community.
