GROCERS in downtown Cebu City have been restocking on canned food, rice, noodles, flashlights and other emergency essentials.
Evelyn Ramos, supervisor of Prince Warehouse, said that they have observed increasing number of shoppers buying flashlights and batteries since Wednesday.
“The customers are in panic, they are buying flashlights and extra batteries. Because of how the consumers are reacting with typhoon Ruby, our staff here are also panicking, they too bought their own flashlights and batteries,” she said.
She said the Cebu branch of Prince Warehouse is sending flashlights and batteries to its counterpart branch in Leyte as some of their Water refilling stations are also busy delivering supplies to their customers who have been stocking up on essentials the past days.
The Department of Trade and Industry assures that they are monitoring the prices of commodities, making sure that stores will not take advantage of the current situation to blow up the prices of goods.
