The state weather bureau has revised the estimated time of landfall of typhoon “Ruby” (international name: Hagupit) to Sunday morning in the vicinity of eastern and northern Samar.
In its 5 a.m. Dec. 6, 2014 Severe Weather Bulletin, Pagasa said that as of 4 a.m. the eye of “Ruby” has been located 240 kilometers east northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar and moving very slowly at 10 kilometers per hour (kph). It has maintained maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
Pagasa warns of heavy to intense rainfall (7.5 – 20 mm/hour) within the 600 kilometer diameter of the typhoon. The public is warned of flashfloods and landslides.
Storm surge of up to 4.5 meters has also been predicted in areas along the path of “Ruby.”
Pagasa raised to Public Storm Warning Signal no. 3 in Northern Samar, Eastern Samar and Samar.
Signal no 2 is hoisted in Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Northern Cebu including Cebu City, Bantayan Island, Camotes Island, Dinagat Province in northeastern Mindanao (Caraga), Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate including Ticao Island.
Signal no. 1 has been declared in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Burias Island, Romblon, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Capiz, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, Aklan, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, rest of Cebu, Siquijor and Bohol, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur and Camiguin.
