(UPDATE) As of 1:30, Pagasa noted weather in Cebu to deteriorate with light to moderate rains that “may persist for 1-2 hours.”
The light to moderate have been monitored in Cebu City, Consolacion, Lapulapu, Cordova, Liloan, Compostela, Danao, Balamban, Asturias, Minglanilla, Talisay City, Carmen, Catmon, Sogod, Borbon and Tuburan.
In Daanbantayan in northern Cebu, rough sees have been noted.
“Light to moderate to at times heavy rains affecting #SamarIsland, #LeyteIsland, & #Biliran which may continue for 3 hours,” said Pagasa in a 1 p.m. Dec. 6, 2014 rainfall advisory. The state weather bureau is warning of possible flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountain areas.
In the 11 a.m. Severe Weather Bulletin, Pagasa said that the eye of typhoon “Ruby” was located 180 kilometers east northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar and 260 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar. It weakened from 195 kph maximum sustained winds to 185 kph and gustiness from 230 kph to 220 kph. Its ground speed increased from 10 kph to 13 kph.
According to Oscar Tabada, Pagasa chief for the Visayasm “Ruby” is estimated to landfall in the area of Eastern and Northern Samar around 2 – 4 a.m. on Sunday. By 8 – 10 p.m.., “Ruby” will be in the vicinity of Sibuyan Island.
On Monday, at around 2-4 a.m., “Ruby” will be in the vicinity of Romblon.
Pagasa also widened the area covered by Public Storm Warning Signal no. 2. It now covers: Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar and Biliran in the Visayas and atanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate including Ticao Island in Luzon.
Cebu City, northern Cebu, Bantayan and Camotes islands remains in signal no. 2. Also in signal no. 2 are Capiz, Leyte and Southern Leyte in the Visayas, Dinagat Island in Mindanao, and Camarines Sur, Burias Island and Romblon in Luzon.
Signal no. 1 remains hoisted in southern Cebu. Also in signal no. 1 are Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Northern Negros in the Visayas, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island in Mindanao and the Luzon provinces of Southern Quezon, Camarines Norte, Marinduque, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro.
