Senior citizens sports program moved due to typhoon Ruby

The “A Day With Senior Citizens” sports competition and program was moved to another date because of supertyphoon Ruby.

The event was supposed to be held yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Institute’s San Nicolas Gymnasium in barangay Pasil.

Cebu City Sports Commission chairman Edward Hayco informed Cebu Daily News yesterday that the presence of typhoon Ruby forced the postponement of the event.

The event will instead be held next month.

Organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) under chairman Richie Garcia, the Cebu City Government headed by Mayor Michael L. Rama and the CCSC under Hayco in cooperation with the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), the program’s launching was to be ushered in with three sporting events before the next episodes will be staged every first Saturday of the month.

The event will feature competitions in chess, scrabble and table tennis using a sandpaper surface for its racquets.

Aside from the competitions, there will also be lessons and tutorials for Zumba, Tai-Chi and Dancesports (Social Dancing).
