Sixteen-year-old “J” can breathe easier after the owner of a resort in Asturias town in northwestern Cebu withdrew her complaint against her.
Myrna Beltran, owner of Cabo San Miguel Resort executed an affidavit of desistance Monday after an unidentified man paid the P15,000 bill.
The affidavit was presented by Beltran’s lawyer to the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office where Asturias police had filed an estafa case against J last Friday.
“Everything is settled. That is why I withdrew the case,” Beltran said in a phone interview.

However, she said she could not remember when the payment was made.
Beltran also refused to reveal the identity of the man who paid the bill, adding that it is “confidential.”
“I let my staff receive the money. I was in Cebu City at that time,” she said.
The resort owner said she was not compelled by the girl’s lawyer, any private organization, or government agency, to drop the case.
“The bill has been paid. I don’t see why we should make a fuss about it,” Beltran said.
But another complaint against J, another estafa case for her alleged unpaid P2,000 bill a Cebu City salon, is still unresolved.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale reiterated that J should go back to her hometown in Sogod, Southern Leyte.
“We, at the PCWC, would really want to send her back to her hometown to be with her family,” Magpale told reporters yesterday.
Magpale said they are looking at the possibility of referring the girl to an institution in Maasin City, southern Leyte.
