Metro Cebu cops bike against drugs

Almost a thousand policemen joined the Police Regional Office 7’s (PRO 7) “bike and run” for a cause in Lapu-Lapu City last Saturday.

The bikers and runners were led by their chiefs, such as Chief Insp. Noel Lomente from the Cebu City Police Office, Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac from the Cebu Provincial Police Office, Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas from the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7), Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin from Mandaue City Police Office, Supt. Clifford Gairanod from the Regional Public Safety Battalion 7 and Supt. Clarito Baja from the Police Community Relations Office.

Private individuals also joined the event hosted by the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

The bikers took the 25 kilometer race starting at 5 a.m. from the City Hall grounds to barangay Punta Engaño, Maribago, Marigondon, Maximo Patalinghug Avenue, ML Quezon Highway and back to city hall. They then ran for the  five-kilometer race from city hall to barangay Ibo and back.

Lapu-Lapu City Police director, Senior Supt. Armando Radoc said that in support of the campaign against illegal drugs headed by PRO 7 Director Prudencio Tom Bañas, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office accepted the challenge to host the event with the theme, “Palig-onon ang kahugpungan batok sa ginadiling druga pinaagi sa dagan ug pag-bisikleta.”

He said the activity seeks public support and cooperation to eradicate the drug menace in society.
