Talisay welcomes new schools division chief

The Talisay Schools Division has a new superintendent in Dr. Lea Noveras.

Noveras took over the leadership of the Talisay Division of the Department of Education (DepEd) from Dr. Woodrow Denuyo.

The change of leadership according to Dr. Carmelita Dulangon was an order from the national office, citing Denuyo who has been heading the Talisay division for five years already, is overstaying. The tour of duty for division superintendents she said is only three years.

Noveras, a former assistant schools division superintendent of Cebu province appealed for support from teachers, supervisors and staff of the Talisay division. To be a good leader, Noveras said, she needs the support of her subordinantes. She also as sured teachers that she will be accessible to them.

Denuyo was subject to controversy lately when he allegedly sat on the application for regular teaching position of a number of Teacher Aid Volunteers (TAV). It will be Dulangon’s intervention for these TAVs to take on full time and regular teaching positions.

Also, Talisay City Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes has requested for Denuyo’s stay in the Talisay division. But he yielded to Noveras’ appointment saying, he only wanted Denuyo to stay longer for the continuity of the projects he started.
