Carter returns to win 10k crown in Energen Healthy Run

Brende Codera and the comebacking Madelyn Carter ruled the 10-kilometer race of the  12th and final leg of the nationwide Energen Healthy Run 2014 yesterday at The Terraces of the Ayala Center Cebu.

Around 3,500 runners answered the starting gun of the running event organized by Energen Philippines. It was participated mostly by students from various universities here in Cebu.

Codera finished the race in 40 minutes and 16 seconds to win the men’s 10k race.

Jezerel Baguio had a time of 41:08 to place second while Ludy Doquiatan crossed the finish line in 41:39 to salvage a third place finish.

Carter, meanwhile, had a huge comeback after missing a lot of local races in Cebu this year as she clocked 51:38 to rule the women’s 10k race.

Rosalinda Cosino came in second with a time of 56:18 while Michelle Mancera finished with a time of 56:39 to complete the top three in the division.

In the 5k race, Jerson Casinillo (20:28) won the men’s title over Victor Monsanto (20:37) while Phyliss Amador (21:19) placed third.

Louiella Joy Julian (30:41) topped the women’s 5k division, followed by Cynthia Maglasang (31:40) and Rose Marie Bejoc (31:59).

Lucrecio Paloma (09:06) and Cecelia Cabahug (14:14) were men’s and women’s champions in the 3k race, respectively.
