Battle royale looms in Kopiko Supercross Rider of the Year race this weekend

MAN and Machine Racing Promotions bared the most recent points rankings of the Kopiko Supercross Series in the Pro-open division before the final leg unfolds this weekend at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Multi-titled motocross daredevil Glenn Aguilar is showing the way in the centerpiece division with 442 points after winning six of the series’ 10 legs. Cebu’s very own Jon Eleazar Adlawan is at second spot with 418 points followed by Rhowell Mangosong IV with 385 points.

Adlawan managed to win two legs in the series and will most likely settle for second in the final tally as overtaking Aguilar looks impossible even if he wins this weekend given the huge gap separating the two rivals.

While a leg champion receives 50 points, for Adlawan to snatch the overall crown it is imperative that Aguilar will not finish the race.

The overall points winner will receive the 2013 “Rider of the Year” award.

Adlawan’s teammate Jubenile Abellar is in fourth place with 339 points followed by Donark Yuzon with 252 points.

Aguilar is also a shoo-in for the Pro-lites title after amassing 456 points against Adlawan’s 415. Mangosong is in third with 395 points.

Aguilar led the Pro-lite division after winning four consecutive legs.

Meanwhile, Jacob Orbe leads the Intermediate division with 406 points followed by Ted Conde (309) and Wensor Pamorca (205).

According to Jake Alcordo of Man and Machine Racing Promotions, they are expecting more than a hundred riders to join the final leg this weekend in the 13-category series. He said that the awarding ceremonies will be held on Sunday at the Sarossa International Hotel.
