Playwriting workshop slated

THE Women in Literary Arts-Cebu Inc. will hold its two-day seminar-workshop on playwriting on Aug. 9-11.

The seminar-workshop, dubbed as “Dula sa Dila,” is supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts through a grant.

The whole-day seminar on Friday will be held at the audio-visual room of University of the Philippines Cebu.

It is open to all literature and drama teachers, theater coaches and guild advisers, students, literary and theater enthusiasts, and those interested in writing plays.

The resource speakers are Palanca winners for play Glenn Sevilla Mas and Steven Patrick Fernandez, Cebuano playwright Rudy Aviles and theater expert Orlando Magno.

The seminar is free of charge.

The two-day workshop on Aug. 10-11 is for fellows whose one-act plays were accepted. Fellows are Msgr. Agustin Ancajas, Desiree Balota, Lorenzo Niñal and Reginald Michael Quirong from Cebu, and Jessie Baldomaro and Benjie Beduya of Calbayog City.

Their works will be critiqued by Fernandez, Aviles and Magno.

The seminar-workshop is aimed to promote playwriting and play production among local writers and theater advocates.
