A five-year-old boy from Bacolod City was rescued from his alleged abductor Tuesday night in a dormitory in Cebu City.
Allan Quilbio was arrested in a joint operation of the Eastern Visayas and Central Visayas units of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in Montesclaros Dormitory on Pelaez St., barangay San Antonio.
Quilbio was the boy’s tutor.
Police said the suspect allegedly admitted that he took the boy with him to get even with the boy’s mother who allegedly spread lies about him with fellow members of their religious organization.
Quilbio said the money he demanded from the mother is not a ransom demand, but a reimbursement for the expenses he incurred in caring for the child while they were in Cebu City.
Quilbio also said he loves the child.
One of the policeman involved in the rescue operation said Quilbio and the boy arrived in Cebu on Jan. 5.
A few days after, Quilbio called the boy’s mother and demanded P16,000.
The mother reported the incident to the Bacolod City Police Office which immediately coordinated with their counterparts in Cebu City.
Last Tuesday, Quilbio again asked for P20,000 from the boy’s mother.
This time, the police have already traced their whereabouts.
